Virginia Beach, Va. -- University of Lynchburg women's tennis junior Jordan Ottaviano sealed the victory for the Hornets against Virginia Wesleyan Sunday afternoon.
She won in three sets to grab Lynchburg's fifth point of the day.
The Hornets swept doubles play during the 5-4 win over the Marlins. Elizabeth Teefey and Grace Teefey won 8-6 at the top-doubles flight. Lara Karrass and Alexa Hardesty were the first duo to finish with an 8-1 win at No. 2. Ashley Hair and Reese McAtee wrapped up doubles play with an 8-2 win.
The Marlins grabbed wins at the top-three singles courts which made Lynchburg's sweep of doubles even more important.
Grace Teefey won handily at the fifth flight. Ottaviano won her first set 6-4 but dropped the second. She battled back for another 6-4 win in the third set to win her match. Her victory at No. 6 sealed the win for the Hornets.
Lynchburg (6-5, 3-3 ODAC) hosts Guilford for a CODE RED match on Saturday, April 1 at 1 p.m.
