Hilton Head Island, S.C. -- The University of Lynchburg women's tennis team is coming home from spring break with two more wins.
The Hornets defeated Webster 7-2 and won two out of three matches at the Spring Tennis Fest in South Carolina.
The Hornets swept doubles play. Elizabeth Teefey and Grace Teefey won 8-2 at the first-doubles court. The sisters are 4-4 at No. 1 this season. Lara Karrass and Alexa Hardesty won 8-5 at No. 2, and Ashley Hair and Reese McAtee won 8-4 at No. 3.
After winning the first set 6-2, Elizabeth Teefey needed a tiebreak to defeat her No. 1 opponent in the second set. Hair won her team-leading sixth match at No. 2. At the fourth flight, Hardesty won the first set, lost the second, then won in a tiebreak third 10-4. Grace Teefey also won in a tiebreak-third set at No. 5.
The Hornets (5-4, 2-2 ODAC) will play Randolph-Macon in Ashland, Va. on Wednesday, March 22 at 3 p.m.
