Lynchburg, Va. -- Eight dominant performances led the University of Lynchburg women's tennis team to an 8-1 win over visiting Mary Baldwin Sunday afternoon at Crosswhite Athletic Club.
The Hornets swept through doubles play before taking five of the six singles flights in the dominant win. Elizabeth Teefey and Grace Teefey won 8-1 at No. 1 doubles, followed by Lara Karrass' and Ashley Hair's 8-3 victory at No. 2, and an 8-4 win at the third flight by Reese McAtee and Jordan Ottaviano.
Lynchburg went on to win five more points in singles, starting with Elizabeth Teefey's 6-2, 6-0 triumph at No. 1. Hair won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2, and Karrass added a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 3. Grace Teefey won at the fourth flight, 6-1, 6-1, and Ottaviano cleaned up at No. 5, 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (8).
The Hornets (1-2) return to Old Dominion Athletic Conference play Friday at 3 p.m. at Crosswhite.
