Fredericksburg, Va. -- University of Lynchburg women's tennis seniors Elizabeth Teefey and Grace Teefey made it to the championship-doubles match in the B draw at ITAs Saturday morning.
The Teefey sisters were one of two Lynchburg-doubles teams to make it to the second day of ITAs at Mary Washington. Ashley Hair and Alexa Hardesty also played in the semifinals but fell to their opponents from Haverford College in the C draw.
Elizabeth Teefey and Grace Teefey won their semifinal match 8-5 and advanced to the championship bout for the first time in their careers. The duo appeared in the semifinals at ITAs in 2021 but did not advance.
In the championship match, the Hornets fought hard and forced a tiebreak. However, the Teefeys fell 7-8 (3).
In 2021, Elizabeth Teefey won her third-singles flight bracket at the Southeast Regional Championship.
Lynchburg (0-2, 0-1 ODAC) concluded its fall schedule. Stay tuned for the release of the spring slate on LynchburgSports.com.
