Wise, Va. -- University of Lynchburg women's tennis was swept in its season opener with the Cavaliers of UVa-Wise on Saturday afternoon.
The Hornets dropped all three matches in doubles action. Elizabeth and Grace Teefey played at the first flight, Ashley Hair and Lara Karrass competed at No. 2, and Jordan Ottaviano teamed up with Reese McAtee at the third flight.
Elizabeth Teefey earned first-team all-conference and scholar-athlete of the year honors in 2021-22. She stepped up to play at the first-singles flight but fell 2-6, 2-6. Her sister Grace lost at the fourth flight.
Three freshman were in the starting lineup for the Hornets with Hair playing at the second flight, Karrass at the third, and McAtee at No. 6.
