Ferrum, Va. -- Luke Mega scored twice, the defense posted its first shutout of the season, and University of Lynchburg's men's soccer team remained unbeaten Saturday evening by means of a 2-0 Old Dominion Athletic Conference victory at Ferrum.
Both Mega's goals came in the first half for the Hornets. The senior struck first in the ninth minute, beating a defender and launching a 20-yard shot that caromed off the right post and into the net for an early Lynchburg lead.
He doubled the Hornets' advantage later in the first half, chasing down a saved shot off the right foot of Kenny Robles and one-timing it into the net for a 2-0 advantage.
Goalkeeper Justin Ennis and the Lynchburg defense took care of the rest. Ennis saved both the shots that were sent his way, helping the Hornets keep Ferrum off the board for the duration of the 90 minutes.
Manzi Shalita had a match-best four shots for Lynchburg, which managed 14 as a team. The Hornets also managed seven corner kicks while not allowing the Panthers one.
Lynchburg (7-0-5, 4-0-1 ODAC) will return home to Shellenberger Field Wednesday night at 7 for a rematch of the 2021 ODAC title match against crosstown rival Randolph College.
