Lynchburg, Va. -- University of Lynchburg baseball freshman Benton Jones and senior Avery Neaves homered in a win over Hampden-Sydney Tuesday.
Wesley Arrington won his second game of the season in the 7-4 victory over the Tigers.
Arrington retired the Tigers in order to begin the game, and the 11th-ranked Hornets quickly gave the senior run support in the bottom of the frame.
Jones continued his hot streak at the dish with an RBI double. He and Logan Webster came around to score later in the inning on a Josh Gjormand single.
Arrington kept dealing on the bump and did not allow a hit in the first three innings. Jones and Neaves homered to extend the lead in the 4th. Jones has seven hits in his last three games with two home runs. Neaves, the reigning Old Dominion Athletic Conference player of the week, has hit five home runs, the third-most in the league.
Jack Bachmore inherited a sticky situation in the 6th. With three runs across and two runners on base, the senior got a backwards K to end the inning. Bachmore fanned six batters in total as he closed out the game and tallied his fourth save of the season over 3.1 innings.
The Hornets took down the Tigers for the fifth-straight time. Hampden-Sydney has scored exactly four runs in four of the past five matchups.
Lynchburg (17-3, 7-1 ODAC) hosts No. 14 Christopher Newport on Wednesday, March 29.
