Lexington, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg baseball team swept Old Dominion Athletic Conference oppenent Washington and Lee Sunday afternoon.
The Hornets won 6-4 in Game 1 and 14-2 in Game 2.
In Game 1, No. 12 Lynchburg started the scoring with one run in the 1st inning and five more in the 2nd. Avery Neaves had a pair of RBI singles scoring Benton Jones both times. Carrson Atkins made his impact with a three-run blast bringing home Holden Fiedler and Jackson Harding. Atkins ended the contest with four hits.
Zack Potts made his sixth start of the season on the mound for the Hornets. The senior struck out six and allowed two earned runs through 6.2 innings. Potts continues his perfect start to the season improving his record to 6-0.
Jack Bachmore dominated the Generals in the final 2.1 innings not allowing a run and striking out three. Bachmore earned his third save of the season as the Hornets won 6-4.
The Hornets flexed their offensive ability in Game 2 putting up fourteen run on thirteen hits.
Jones hit his fourth home run of the season in the 3rd inning making the score 5-0. The freshman recorded three RBI on two hits in the contest.
Neaves lived up to his All-America status throughout the two contests. The Reston, Va. native homered twice in Game 2 recording seven RBI on three hits, scoring four runs as well. Neaves also had three steals on the day to top it off. Neaves has four homers on the year and a program-record 30 in his career. The conference record is 43. He also has 111-career walks and the ODAC record is 116.
Cameron Lane and Logan Webster each score three times.
Lynchburg (16-3, 6-1 ODAC) hosts Hampden-Sydney on Tuesday, March 28 at 3 p.m.
