
Salem, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg baseball team continued Old Dominion Athletic Conference play Saturday and split a double-header against Roanoke.
Senior Zach Potts started Game 1 on the mound for the 12th-ranked Hornets. Potts secured his fifth win of the season (5-0) allowing four earned runs over seven innings pitched.
Josh Gjormand led the way for the Lynchburg offense scoring three times, driving in three runs, and falling just a homer short of the cycle. Avery Neaves scored twice and had two doubles on the day as well.
Jack Bachmore pitched two scoreless innings to close out the game giving Lynchburg the 9-4 victory.
In Game 2, Brandon Pond started the game pitching four scoreless innings allowing just one hit and striking out five.
Lynchburg's lone run came in the top of the 3rd when graduate student Carrson Atkins hit his second home run of the season.
Roanoke scored two runs in the bottom of the 5th giving the Maroons a 2-1 lead and added a third run in the 6th.
Alex Gianascoli and Logan Tapman both pitched scoreless innings but the Maroons held on to win 3-1.
Lynchburg (13-3, 3-1 ODAC) will continue ODAC play at home March, 22, against Va. Wesleyan.
