Newport News, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg baseball team fell on the road at Christopher Newport Tuesday.
No. 12 Lynchburg started out the game strong scoring four in the top of the 1st. Brandon Garcia and Logan Webster both singled to set the table for Avery Neaves' second home run of the season. Riley O'Donovan followed the homer with a double and was eventually driven home by Gavin Collins.
Freshman Logan Tapman made his first start on the mound for the Hornets.
The Captains rode the heels of the Hornets and put up four runs of their own in the 2nd inning. CNU eventually took the lead 5-4 in 4th.
Ángel Collazo and Jack Bachmore made up the bullpen for Lynchburg only allowing one earned run in 6 1/3 innings.
The Hornet offense went quiet after a Webster single in 7th, and Lynchburg fell 6-4.
