Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg baseball team won its fifth-straight game Saturday beating York 5-1.
Sophomore Logan Webster started the scoring for the 13th-ranked Hornets in the 1st inning with a single that brought home senior Avery Neaves. The senior reached base on a walk before coming around to score.
In the 5th inning, Webster drove Neaves home once again on another RBI single capping off his two-hit two-RBI game making the score 4-0. Neaves also had an RBI single in the inning that scored graduate student Carrson Atkins.
Atkins snagged an RBI of his own in the 6th inning on a bunt single scoring junior infielder Gavin Collins.
Senior pitcher Zack Potts made his third start of the 2023 season on the bump for the Hornets. Potts had an impressive outing only allowing one run in seven innings of work. The one run came on a solo shot from York's Jacob Deimling. Potts struck out six and earned the win improving his record on the season to 3-0.
Freshman Logan Tapman made his third appearance of the season relieving Potts of his duties to start the eighth. Tapman struck out two in his two scoreless innings of work. In eight innings pitched on the season, the freshman has not allowed an earned run.
