Lynchburg, Va. -- Lauren Stanford's 30 digs and Erin Farina's double-double weren't enough to power University of Lynchburg's volleyball team past crosstown rival Randolph in a five-set thriller Wednesday night in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action.
The WildCats (9-7, 4-3 ODAC) rebounded to win the final two sets and the match, 24-26, 25-20, 21-25, 25-23, 15-8.
Lynchburg (10-6, 2-3 ODAC) got strong performances out of both its setters, as Farina tallied 20 assists and 10 digs and Alexis Davies-Hackenberg chipped in 22 assists and seven digs.
Sydney Frink led the offensive stat line with 17 kills, and Abbi Leeper added 10.
The Hornets are back in action this weekend with a pair of home matches: Friday, Oct. 4 at 6 p.m. versus William Peace and Saturday, Oct. 5 at 2 p.m. against Guilford. The Hornets will celebrate Senior Day prior to Saturday's match.
