LC Defeats EMU 8-0 on Homecoming Friday
LYNCHBURG, VA – The 13th-ranked Lynchburg College women's soccer team defeated Eastern Mennonite University 8-0 Friday evening as a part of the 2013 Homecoming Weekend in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) match. The programs' six seniors were honored in a pre-game ceremony – posting a 72-7-8 record overall in their four seasons with an unblemished mark in ODAC play.
The Hornets scored their first goal of the game at 19:07 when senior Anne Neville Broaddus scored off an assist by senior Angela Bosco. Less than 10 minutes later, senior Jenn Snyder found the back of the net from an assist by freshman Kelley Smith. Sophomore Sarah Schrader, freshman Elizabeth Oden and sophomore Morgan Singer capped off the first half with goals of their own to end the first with a 5-0 lead. Assists came from Snyder, senior Rachel Sadowski and freshman Erin Benson.
Junior forward Dessi Dupuy factored in all three LC second-half scores, netting two goals and had an assist. Bosco posted the Hornets other second-half goal. Lynchburg out-shot EMU 46-2 and held a 13-1 edge in corner kicks. Becca Borg made 13 saves for EMU (9-6/4-5 ODAC).
The Hornets (15-1/9-0 ODAC) travel to Shenandoah University Wednesday for another ODAC game at 6:30 p.m.
