Four Hornets Earn All-South Atlantic Region Honors
KANSAS CITY, KS – This week the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) announced its All-Region teams and four members of the Lynchburg College women's soccer team were honored in the All-South Atlantic Region. The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) champions placed two on the first team, one on the second team, and the final player on the third team.
Senior Brittany Klippstein continued to garner accolades in her illustrious career, making first-team All-Region. The midfielder earned ODAC Player of the Year, first-team All-ODAC, and first-team All-American. Klippstein scored 14 goals and assisted on seven others for a total of 35 points on the year. For her career, she has made the All-ODAC team four times, the All-South Atlantic team three times, the All-State team once, and the All-American team once.
Joining Klippstein on the first team was senior Beverly Hoath. Hoath has made a huge impact for the Hornets since arriving in 2008. The defender was a stalwart on one of the best defenses in the nation that only allowed seven goals on the year. She also contributed on the offensive end scoring one goal and adding an assist this year. Over her four years, she made the All-South Atlantic team three times, the All-State team once, and the All-ODAC team three times.
Making the second team was freshman Dessi Dupuy. In her first year at Lynchburg, Dupuy set the Hornets single season record for most goals in a year with 27. With six assists as well, she finished the season with 60 points, third in Lynchburg history for a single season. For her efforts, the ODAC named her Rookie of the Year and first-team All-ODAC.
Rounding out the All-Region winners was senior Jackie Bader on the third-team. She allowed only six goals on the year, one of the lowest totals in the nation. Bader also finished in the top-ten of numerous career goalkeeping statistics in Lynchburg history. Since 2007, Bader has been named All-South Atlantic Region three times, All-State once, and All-ODAC twice.
