The Yellow Jackets scored the first nine points of the game and led by as many as 10 later in the first half. R-MC held a 40-32 advantage with three minutes left in the half, but an 11-5 run closed the gap to just two (45-43) at intermission.
The second half belonged to the Hornets. Trailing 53-50 early in the stanza, a 21-5 surge put Lynchburg ahead 71-58 with 12 minutes left. LC held at least a six-point edge the rest of the way and pulled away in the final seven minutes.
Burnett netted 21 of his 24 points in the second half, including five three pointers. He shot 8-of-13 from the field with three assists, two steals and two blocked shots. Graves sank 9-of-13 from the floor for a game-high 25 points and added six rebounds and two blocks. Senior A.J. Hamilton scored 12 points and Omar Kemp contributed six points, seven rebounds and two rejections. Daniel Rowe posted eight points and Lyndon White had seven points, six rebounds and three assists. LC hit 55 percent of its shots (33-60) for the game and 48 from three-point range (12-25).
Lamont Moore paced R-MC (1-5/0-1) with 15 points, seven rebounds and four assists and Mike Silverthorn also had 15 points. Darryl Williams hit all five of his shots for 12 points while Michael Taylor had 10.
Lynchburg (4-2/1-1 ODAC) travels to Methodist University Saturday for a non-conference clash at 2 p.m.
