Lynchburg Volleyball Beats CCNY, Wesley

ST. MARY'S CITY, MD – The Lynchburg College volleyball team defeated the City College of New York (25-17, 25-17, 25-8) and beat Wesley College (25-13, 25-12, 25-11) in the Seahawk Invitational hosted by St. Mary's College of Maryland on Friday.

In the first match, Lynchburg was led offensively by senior Rachel Huffman and junior Rebecca Loftis who both had eight kills each. Freshman Casey Parrish fired seven kills as well. Junior Rachel Turk paced the Hornets with 20 assists, while sophomore Brooke Moughon registered 14 assists.

Junior Molly Deacon led LC defensively with 11 digs with senior Elena Kritter tallying nine.

LC took the second match decisively against Wesley College, winning 3-0. Kritter led the Hornets with six kills while Loftis had five. Turk finished with 14 assists complimented by Moughon's 11 assists.

Deacon and Kritter each had 12 digs while Loftis had two solo blocks and assisted on two others with freshman Aricquel Payne.

Lynchburg (18-9) finishes up the regular season on Saturday with matches against Muhlenberg College at 1 p.m. and St. Mary's College (Md.) at 3 p.m.
