LC Volleyball Defeats Johnson & Wales and NC Wesleyan

LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College volleyball team defeated Johnson & Wales University in three games and North Carolina Wesleyan College in four Saturday to finish the four-team LC Invitational Tournament with an unblemished 3-0 record.

The Hornets breezed past the J&W Wildcats 25-11, 25-10, 25-11. Mallory Stewart blasted 12 kills, while Rachel Huffman had eight. Casey Parrish, Elena Kritter and Aricquel Payne each added five kills, and Rachel Turk had a team-best 16 assists. Brooke Moughon had 11 assists and Kritter had a team-best 12 digs.

LC rallied for a 17-25, 26-24, 25-13, 25-12 win over North Carolina Wesleyan. Rebecca Loftis, Payne and Parrish each had eight kills, while Huffman had seven kills and Kritter tallied six kills, eight assists and five digs. Parrish had an impressive all-around match with 14 digs, Turk compiled 20 assists and 11 digs, and Molly Deacon added 19 digs. Payne added 15 digs.

Lynchburg (5-1) opens Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play Tuesday night at home against Emory & Henry College at 6:30 p.m.
