Lynchburg, Va. -- The Lynchburg College women's tennis team has postponed Friday afternoon's Old Dominion Athletic Conference match with Sweet Briar due to gusty winds accompanying the passing cold front through the region.

The makeup date will be Tuesday, March 20 at 2 p.m. at the LC Tennis Courts.

Wind gusts of up to 60 mph and sustained northwest winds of 20 to 30 mph are expected throughout Friday and into Saturday morning, according to the National Weather Service's high-wind warning, which encompassed Central and Southside Virginia as well as Piedmont North Carolina. According to Intercollegiate Tennis Association guidelines, outdoor matches should not be played in windy conditions exceeding 20 mph.

The Hornets enter spring break winners of two matches in a row, defeating Guilford on Saturday and Hollins on Wednesday in their ODAC openers. Lynchburg's women's and men's teams will hit the road over break, heading to Hilton Head Island, S.C., for the Spring Tennis Fest. Both teams will begin competition Sunday, March 4 at 11:45 a.m. versus NAIA foe Milligan.
