Women's tennis sweeps Hollins at home

Lynchburg, Va. -- Lynchburg College's women's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 Old Dominion Athletic Conference sweep of visiting Hollins Wednesday afternoon in the team's 2018 debut at the LC tennis courts.

Sophomore Christina Harris (Falls Church, Va.) led the charge with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles, and she and doubles partner Caroline Guill (Louisa, Va.) notched an 8-2 win as the top duo for the Hornets.

Sophomore Halle Lavieri (Killingworth, Conn.) earned a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles, and juniors Lilli Altenburg (Lexington, Va.) and Reagan Coon (Churchville, Va.) dropped just one game apiece at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively.

Lavieri and junior Sarah Wyly (Leesburg, Va.) highlighted the doubles portion of the match with an 8-1 triumph at No. 3.

Lynchburg's women improve to 2-0 in ODAC play and 3-2 overall this spring. The Hornets will look to win a third-straight match Friday at 2 p.m. when they play host to Sweet Briar.
