Six Hornets Score Multiple Goals in 21-4 win over Sweet Briar
SWEET BRIAR, VA – Six different members of the Lynchburg College women's lacrosse team scored multiple goals on Wednesday to help LC defeat Sweet Briar College 21-4 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play.
The Hornets scored the first 12 goals of the game before the Vixens answered at 1:31 of the first half. LC scored the next three goals, with two coming from Caroline Carozza. SBC tallied three of the next four scores to cut the lead to 16-4. But that would be as close as it would come as Lynchburg scored the remaining seven goals in the contest to finish the game at 21-4.
Caroline Kilby led the Hornets with four tallies and four helpers, while Bri Slate finished with a hat trick and an assist. Carozza, Katherine Francis, Alyssa Rossi, and Ryland Scott were the other players with two. Paige Gadsby, Laura Meisner, Abby Sard, and Katie Seidel finished off the scoring for LC. Kira Castle and Carozza assisted on two goals, with France adding one helper of her own. Hailey Bossert made nine saves in 30 minutes while allowing only one goal.
Allison McLamb scored two goals for the Vixens (3-8 overall, 1-5 ODAC). Reba Gagne and Kim Orchowski scored the other two for Sweet Briar. Emily Williams and Ashton Reid split time in net stopping nine shots.
Lynchburg (5-6, 4-3) returns to nonconference action on Saturday. The Hornets head to Newport News to take on Christopher Newport University (7-4) for a 2 p.m. start time.
