Roanoke Women's Lacrosse Outscores LC 19-14
SALEM, VA - The Roanoke College women's lacrosse team defeated Lynchburg College 19-14 Monday evening, despite four goals each from LC seniors Bri Slate and Caroline Kilby. The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) match-up was originally scheduled for March 12 but moved due to inclement weather conditions.
The Maroons scored the first five goals of the game and led 9-3 midway through the first half. Lynchburg rallied to trim the lead to 12-8 at halftime after a score from Kilby with eight seconds left, but could get no closer in the second half.
Katherine Francis and Ryland Scott each had two goals for LC as a compliment to the eight Slate and Kilby combined to post. Caroline Carozza and Maddie Koontz had a goal and an assist apiece. Grace Finnerty collected four draw controls and Scott and Francis added three. Koontz also scooped four ground balls and caused two turnovers.
Darragh Evarts had five scores and four assists for Roanoke (6-5/3-1 ODAC) and Claire Feeney had four goals and two assists.
Lynchburg (4-6/3-2) travels to Sweet Briar College for more ODAC action Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
