Hornet Women's Lacrosse Scores 14-12 ODAC Win at R-MC

ASHLAND, VA – Senior Sarah Shannon and junior Bri Slate each scored three times Wednesday evening as the Lynchburg College women's lacrosse team held off Randolph-Macon College 14-12 in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) game.

The Yellow Jackets held a 6-3 lead 10 minutes into the game, but a 5-0 Hornet surge, with five different goal scorers, put Lynchburg up 8-6 at 11:26 of the first half. Lynchburg took an 11-9 edge into intermission, and the defense came up big in the second half, allowing just three goals in the final 30 minutes. Sophomore Ryland Scott had two second-half goals to help provide the final cushion.

Julie Will and Katherine Francis had two goals each for the Hornets, while Kendall Adkin had one and Katie Seidel contributed an assist. Will grabbed a team-high five draw controls, and Shannon and Brianna LaMarca each caused two turnovers.

Emily Lynch had a game-high four scores for Randolph-Macon (8-3/3-3 ODAC), three in the second half. Shannon Jamieson and Janelle Whitman each had three goals as well.

Lynchburg (6-5/3-3) travels to Bridgewater College for another ODAC game Saturday at 1 p.m.
