Allan Nets 22 as LC Women's Basketball Nets First Win of the Season

LYNCHBURG, VA – Freshman Shannon Allan tallied a career-high 22 points and grabbed 16 rebounds Friday evening as the Lynchburg College women's basketball team defeated Barber-Scotia College 75-66 in non-conference play for its first win of the season.

Allan went 10-13 from the free throw line in the game. Three other Lynchburg players scored in double figures as well in the victory. Sophomore Roslyn Alexander netted 14, senior Katie Crump scored 12 and senior Carly Greenlief added 10. Crump also registered eight rebounds.

Both teams traded leads in the first half with each team leading by five at different points. BSC's Tesha Wilson made a layup with five seconds left to give the Sabers a 35-32 advantage at halftime.

LC tied the game at 17:37 at 38 a piece after a free throw from Allan. With the game still remaining close, Lynchburg went on a 10-0 run beginning at 5:24. For the remainder of the game, the Hornets held Barber-Scotia to only three more points for a Lynchburg 75-66 win.

Freshman Katie Reeves and Alexander each dished out five assists. Lindsay Lee led the Sabers (3-9) with 20 points and 20 rebounds while Synquis Phillips scored 15. Lynchburg forced 29 turnovers from Barber-Scotia.

Lynchburg (1-6) will host Christopher Newport University on December 30 at 6 p.m. in Turner Gym.
