Annandale, Va. -- Three Lynchburg College softball players earned nods to the Virginia Sports Information Directors College Division All-State teams, the statewide organization announced Thursday with its final College Division team of 2017-18.

Senior second baseman Leslie Bourgeois (Bealeton, Va.) and junior third baseman Taylor Mabry (Bassett, Va.) took first-team honors, while senior center fielder Skylar Dickens (Virginia Beach, Va.) earned a second-team spot.

Bourgeois, who returns to the All-State first team after earning the award in 2016, had a terrific senior year in which she hit .358 with four home runs and 26 RBI. Her nine doubles tied for second on the Lynchburg team. She was a first-team All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference pick this season.

Mabry, a first-time All-State selection, enjoyed one of the most decorated seasons in Lynchburg softball history. She was a second-team All-American, first-team All-South Region, and a second-team All-ODAC pick. The junior finished tied for second in the ODAC with 10 home runs and fourth in the league with a .690 slugging percentage, leading the team in both of those categories. She also drove in a team-leading 36 runs and hit .395 with 22 walks.

Dickens, now a three-time second-team All-State honoree, led the Hornets with 57 hits and 154 at bats in her senior campaign. She carried a .370 average and topped the club with nine stolen bases while also playing stellar center field defense. Dickens was a second-team All-ODAC selection and was named to the Atlanta Regional All-Tournament team, where she went 3-for-7 with three RBI.

This season marks the fourth time in the past five seasons that the Hornets have seen multiple players voted to the top team in the Commonwealth.

Lynchburg finished the season with a 30-14 record and earned an at-large berth to the NCAA tournament, traveling to the Atlanta Regional at Emory University. It was LC's first trip to the national tournament since 2014.

Division III national champion Virginia Wesleyan nearly swept the major awards, as first baseman Cassetty Howerin won player of the year, southpaw Hanna Hull earned pitcher of the year, and Brandon Elliott was named coach of the year. VaSID members voted Christopher Newport freshman Patty Maye Ohanian the state's rookie of the year.
