Lynchburg, Va. -- Sophomore Taylor Mabry was named the Hornet of the Week after having a successful week at the dish as well as on the rubber, helping the Hornets go undefeated last week.
The Bassett, Va. native recorded six RBI and one run in the double-header against Averett last Thursday and currently leads the team in that category with 15 so far this season. She is 2nd on the team in slugging percentage at .733 (minimum of 5 AB) and in home runs with two, both of which were grand slams.
The Health and Physical Education major also had a successful day on the mound as she in as relief in the second game throwing four shutout innings, allowing one hit and striking out three Cougars.
Lynchburg Softball will return to the diamond after an extended break, heading up to Maryland for the Salisbury Invitational. The Hornets will play a double-header against the Hawks of SUNY New Paltz with the first game set to start at 8:30 a.m.
