Lynchburg Va. -- Jon Mackey (Leesburg, Va.) netted the game-tying goal in the 73rd minute as the Hornets drew UMass Boston, 1-1, in the third game of the Shellenberger Classic on Sunday.
The Hornets controlled much of the match, out-shooting UMB 20-7 through 110 minutes of play, but they were unable to find the back of the net more than once.
Roanoke (1-0-1) bested Pfieffer (0-2) in the final Classic game. The Maroons and Lynchburg finish the tournament as co-champions, each with four points in the standings and a plus-1 goal differential. Check back on LynchburgSports.com tomorrow for the all-tournament team.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Hornets had several first-half scoring opportunities, launching five shots to go with five corner kicks, but Lynchburg managed just one shot-on-goal before intermission.
- UMass Boston's Marcelo Cunha broke the scoreless tie in the 56th minute on a 30-yard direct kick that was deflected into the goal by the Lynchburg defense.
- Mackey scored the equalizer in the 73rd minute, taking Michael Zhang's pass and punching it past the charging Beacons keeper into the nylon.
- Lynchburg out-shot the Beacons 7-0 in the overtime periods but were unable to score the golden goal.
