FOREST, Va. -- Defending Old Dominion Athletic Conference champion Lynchburg College enters the 2017-18 men's soccer season ranked second in the league's preseason poll.

The Hornets garnered three first-place votes among the league's 12 coaches and 111 total points, putting them just four behind top-ranked Washington and Lee and eight points ahead of third-ranked Roanoke.

Coach Chris Yeager's group will look to build on another strong year last year, when it went undefeated in the conference, won the program's 15th ODAC title and the fifth under Yeager's tutelage.

The Hornets advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III tournament for the third time in program history, and many of the men who got them there return to the team this season. LC begins the year at home versus Pfeiffer in the Shellenberger Classic at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 1.
