Lynchburg, Va. -- The Lynchburg College men's lacrosse team couldn't close a late deficit, falling, 15-13, to 13th-ranked Washington and Lee Saturday afternoon on LC's Shellenberger Field.

Junior attackman Evan Lombardo (Franklin Park, N.J.) netted six goals and an assist for Lynchburg, while senior midfielder Colin McGuire (Odenton, Md.) complemented his goal with three assists.

A.J. Witherell led the Generals with four goals and an assist.

The Hornets celebrated Senior Day with their 13 seniors prior to the game.

LC responded with two more scores to knot the game again, and McGuire and sophomore attackman Kevin Rogers (Leesburg, Va.) scored a pair more to end the period ahead, 11-10.

  • W&L opened the fourth with a 4-0 run to take control of the game, and late goals by Lombardo and junior attackman Logan Adams (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) weren't enough to bring LC back.

Lynchburg will remain home on Wednesday, April 25 to take on the Hornets of Shenandoah. The face-off is set for 7 p.m.
