Hornets Control Bridgewater from the Start for 23-3 Victory

LYNCHBURG, VA – The #10 Lynchburg College men's lacrosse team outscored the Bridgewater College Eagles 6-2 in the first quarter on the way to a 23-3 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) victory on Wednesday night.

Bobby Distler won the opening faceoff for the Hornets and LC got a quick shot, but could not convert.  It took several minutes before either team would score, when Cullan Ganley scored the first of the game at 11:11.  Todd Galvin put the lead at 2-0 for Lynchburg after finishing off the feed from Chris Cornelius

However, Rob Simmons responded for the Eagles at 7:25 to cut the advantage in half.  Rob Arnold then scored two out of the next three goals, with Cornelius in between to give LC a 5-1 lead.  Derrek Daniels scored afterwards, but Lynchburg notched the eight goals in the game, and it would be too much for BC to overcome.

Six players tallied two goals in the game for the Hornets: Arnold, Cornelius, Austin Stewart, Tyler Bringman, Charlie Oldendorp, and Aaron Murphy.  The single goal scorers were Galvin, Ganley, David Alyanakian, Chris Camarca, Daniel Owens, Ryan Kardux, Dane Angell, Thomas Rodenhouse, Matthew Baker, Joey Giannaras, and Garret Wayson.  LC also assisted on 11 goals in the game, with two coming from reigning ODAC Player of the Week Murphy.  The other Hornets who had helpers were Sean Ahearn, Campbell Armstrong, Oldendorp, Baker, Arnold, Galvin, Cornelius, Alayanakian, and Camarca.

Conor Lawson made 17 saves in the loss for Bridgewater (5-10 overall, 0-8 ODAC).  Thomas Maher had the other score for the Eagles.

Lynchburg (12-4, 7-1) will play its final regular season game on Saturday night.  LC makes the trek to the coast to face Virginia Wesleyan College (9-5, 4-4), with the first faceoff coming at 7 p.m.
