HOW IT HAPPENED
PC took an early lead on Michael Henderson's two-run homer in the bottom of the second, but Lynchburg responded in the next half-inning to tie the game thanks to an RBI fielder's choice off the bat of freshman shortstop Parker Shaffer (Richmond, Va.) and Allen's RBI single.
The tie didn't last long as the Lions scored thrice in the bottom of the third and tacked on five runs in the fourth to take control of the ballgame.
After Allen drove in another run with a single in the sixth, Piedmont added three more in the bottom half.
Hylton drove in runs in both the seventh and ninth innings.
Junior right-hander Graham Boggio (Midlothian, Va.) took the loss on the hill for Lynchburg.
Lynchburg will look to salvage a win in the final game of the weekend series Sunday, April 22 at 1 p.m. before trekking back home.
