Hampton, Va. -- University of Lynchburg's athletic department enjoyed yet another good showing this past year in the Virginia Sports Information Directors' College Division All-Sports Survey, finishing fifth among the Commonwealth's 26 Division II and III institutions for their efforts in 2017-18.

Lynchburg's women's teams took second in the annual all-sports rating, while the Hornet men's programs finished eighth.

The All-Sports Survey combines the results of every dual-competition sport sponsored by each school and rates those programs based on aggregate win percentage. It also tracks conference championships and NCAA postseason appearances by those programs.

Lynchburg's programs combined for a 178-100-2 mark in 2017-18, a winning percentage of .639, and won three Old Dominion Athletic Conference titles (men's lacrosse, men's and women's soccer -- as well as women's outdoor track & field, which doesn't factor into the rating). Aside from the three conference championship teams, Lynchburg's softball program earned an NCAA at-large bid.

The Hornets' enjoyed success in women's sports to the tune of a 108-43 mark (.715 win percentage), good enough for second in the rankings, a new high-water mark for the program.

Lynchburg's men tallied up a 70-57-2 record (.550 win percentage) between its programs.

It is the second top-five overall finish in the All-Sports Survey for the Lynchburg athletic department, following a fourth-place showing in 2016-17.
